In July 2025, Les Bains de Lavey – one of Switzerland’s most iconic thermal spas – unveiled a new chapter in its wellness experience. As part of a major reconstruction project, the spa commissioned four completely new saunas designed to immerse guests in the natural elements surrounding the Rhône valley.

The project was brought to life through an exceptional collaboration between Leaderspa Pro SA, creators of the design concept, and Auroom, responsible for the complete manufacturing and installation. This partnership, built over more than five years, reached a new milestone with Lavey – a project that stands among the most ambitious and technically demanding in Auroom’s history.

Today, these four saunas form the heart of the renewed spa experience, each one distinct in atmosphere, craftsmanship, and materiality.

A Spa with a vision rooted in nature

Les Bains de Lavey is renowned for its thermal waters rising from deep within the Alps, offering visitors an escape into warmth, tranquillity, and natural beauty. The aim of the renovation was to elevate this experience even further – and for us, to create four distinct architectural worlds, each sauna telling its own story.

The concept by Leaderspa Pro SA was clear: every sauna must not only perform flawlessly under intense daily use but also evoke the textures, rhythms, and moods of the natural landscape.

Auroom was chosen as the execution partner for its expertise in complex, design-led wellness projects and its ability to deliver large-scale, fully modular sauna environments with absolute precision – even under tight deadlines.

The four saunas of Les Bains de Lavey

Sauna Cérémonies

Materials: Thermory STEP 27×64 thermo-aspen (walls), SHP thermo-aspen (interior)

This large ceremonial sauna sets the tone for the entire spa. Built to host guided rituals, it features rhythmic thermo-aspen cladding that enhances acoustics and creates a sense of movement along the walls. The atmosphere is calm, elemental, and deeply immersive- perfect for steam rituals and multisensory experiences.

Sauna Tropical

Materials: Thermory SHP thermo radiata pine (interior)

Infused with maritime and tropical inspiration, this sauna combines the softness of radiata pine with warm, enveloping light. The material selection brings a delicate tactility, while the layout creates a relaxed, open environment ideal for long, gentle sessions.

Sauna Événementiel

Materials: Thermory SHP alder (interior)

Designed for dynamic events and programmed sauna experiences, this space embraces the natural beauty of alder. Its warm colour, smooth texture, and excellent heat performance create a vibrant yet inviting environment. From a visual and functional perspective, alder brings a contemporary softness that fits perfectly within the spa’s overall architecture.

Salt Room & Infrared Sauna

Perhaps the most intricate space in the project, the Salt Room & Infrared sauna highlights the precision of Auroom’s craftsmanship. With every component CNC-cut and every joint calibrated with millimetre accuracy, this sauna demonstrates how wood can reach a new level of refinement through design and technology.

The combination of Himalayan salt elements and targeted infrared heating creates an environment that is both therapeutic and architecturally striking.

A milestone in modern wellness design

With Les Bains de Lavey, Auroom has further strengthened its position among the world’s leaders in custom sauna design, combining technical expertise, architectural sensitivity, and modern craftsmanship.

This project was also recognised as a runner-up in the Thermory Design Awards Wellness and spa category, highlighting its architectural excellence and the strength of the partnership behind it.
